LETTER FROM GIUSEPPE & MARIE B.
CEDAR GROVE NJ 07009
JUNE 8, 2019

My husband is a self-employed general construction company owner and general contractor. Unfortunately, during 2017 the business hit some rough patches and our income was greatly reduced. After draining our savings accounts, praying that the business would pick up, we literally ran out of money. We fell behind on several bills including our mortgage. We invested a lot of money upgrading our home and now we were facing foreclosure and had no idea how to save our home and or prevent this foreclosure. We considered bankruptcy and we tried to work with Citi Bank ourselves and all we accomplished was getting aggravated. Citi Bank was very difficult to deal with and although their agents seemed to be polite claiming to offer assistance, while they lost our papers and requested the same information multiple times. They never really helped us at all. I was spending a fortune using federal express delivery service so I could have a signature of the person receiving my documents. After almost an entire year of trying to work with Citi Bank and making little progress, we decided it was time to hire an attorney.

A local realtor recommended a real estate attorney, so my husband and I took a chance and made an appointment to see this attorney. We were introduced to Angela M. Thomas, a paralegal, who said she had many years of experience securing a variety of foreclosure alternative options. Angela advised us of our rights as homeowners and after we explained our desire to keep our home, she assured us that she would do all in her power to help us save our home. We were stressed and scared, but we decided to trust in Angela and in this law firm. We were blown away by the sheer amount of information that Angela shared with us. She helped us reduce business expenses and after she completed a financial analysis of our personal spending, which she was able to restructure, she showed us how we could save approximately $500 per month by consolidating some loans and lowering several other expenses. Angela taught us so many things while she educated us on how to create a monthly budget that we could support and live by while helping us implement changes to ensure we remain financially stable. She also advised us to talk with a financial planner to set up our wills, our living wills, guardianship instruction for our children plus life insurance that would pay off our existing mortgage and provide enough funds to support our children and their college educations. We never realized how unprepared we were. Angela opened our eyes.

Angela went above and beyond with her assistance to us as a family. She not only was instrumental in saving our home but her life lessons that she shared with us helped us grow as parents, business owners, and homeowners. She also took the time to explain anything that we did not understand until we were comfortable, and all our questions were answered. Our children were so relieved when they found out they would not need to change schools.

We would have lost our home if not for the help and guidance that Angela provided to us. In this world, you never know what you don’t know until something happens. When we were facing our foreclosure combined with the reduced income from the business, the world as we knew it was about to end. We had little hope and had no idea where to turn. My husband and I are grateful to Angela for caring enough to go that extra mile to ensure that we not only saved our home and implemented a plan to keep our home safe, but we also protected our family and our futures. We sleep a little bit better at night now. We wholeheartedly recommend Angela to anyone facing financial difficulties of any kind, she has a wealth of knowledge to share!

Sincerely,
Marie & Giuseppe Basile
